Being a Guardian

The age limit for Guardians has been raised from 14 to 15, no younger. 15 is the average age for early high school students and only a year off the projected time the biorhythm of the civilian is strongest. Also, the civilian must be at least four (4) months into their 15th year before being able to apply.

Payment
The pay of a Guardian is split up for net gain, retirement, damages, and taxes. The pay is determined by the rank of the Tamer and the age. The older the Tamer and/or higher their rank, the more pay they receive. Before being deposited into the Guardian Account, some of the money is set aside for retirement, and a small tax is taken, even smaller if the Guardian is 15 or 16 years of age. Guardians, due to their job, pay less taxes than civilians. Being a Guardian can be rather lucrative, but with the danger that one may never return from a mission, that can be understood. Of course, squad leaders are paid more, as are those that take multiple jobs within or outside the system.

Living Arrangements
Now the average Guardian has three choices for living arrangements. They can:

1. Live in assigned dormitory/apartment buildings.

The size of these homes are related to the rank of the Guardian. The higher the rank, the better the living arrangements. Guardians transferring data from the "Warrior" System will have better arrangements then those just starting on the "Legend" System.

2. Live with family/friends.

Probably the cheapest solution, though most Guardians choose to strike out on their own. However, some Guardians will live with others to save expense or to be with their significants.

3. Live on their own away from the apartment settlements and family.

This usually goes to Guardians with money to spare such as Koibara Yukito, who heads the Cyan branch of the Koibara Zaibatsu, or those of Leon Vanhelm and Nakamura Tetsuo who’s homes are paid for by their governments. Exceptions to this are Kasshu Sion, who chose to live in an old house and simply restored it to resemble the jungle he was raised in, and Benjamin Valor, who lives on the outskirts of the city, and pays property rather than city fees.

One thing is certain, and that is that the Guard Tamer and Guard Digimon MUST live together. This cannot be changed in any way and will not be debated.

Relationships
Relationships are allowed. The forefathers of the Guardian System tried separating men and women and all it did was cause a baby boom. The Accel Chips installed into the Guardians acts as an eternal contraceptive, so chances of babies being born are now nil. However, the system will intervene on any relationship that is shown to affect the Guardian’s performance in a negative way or those that may cause government problems within or outside of the country. Also, sex based laws are enforced ten-fold on Guardians who break them. Example: Rape would get a civilian put in jail. Rape would get a Guardian put in jail longer with the strong chance of being executed.
