Well it's unanimous that we want to disable Guest Posting.... but the Account Activation is a tie...

We'll see what happens after I disable Guest Posting then, everyone. Here goes!

Then the only way to stop the spam bots is to disallow guest posting. I can still add in the preventive measure to stop spam bots from registering. What I've used works very effectively for the time and is what the modders group I'm appart of uses to combact spam bot registrations.

I already added in a small thing to maybe drop down the number of spamng guests.

I can add in the next thing to keep spam bots from registering next.

There are a few things that may be able to work. One may keep bots from even accessing the register page all together so they can't sign up for accounts.

The other well, I can add in a small script for guest posting. A version of it has stopped all spam bots from going though my contacts forum, it may work for guest posting. If not completely then to at least reduce it by a lot.

That's what they're showing now. It was fine... But then we had the one that actually managed to get an account and post outside of GD. I don't know how, I have an auto-ban for anything that bypasses most of the registration processes... IP Ban. But that list is frickin huge now. X_X I also changed up the keys in the PHP code itself for the registration page allowing only those who can actually read things to continue on.

I deleted the account. I have to do that once a week. I get a new page of users every freakin week. X_X; I know 15 usernames on a page doesn't sound like a lot, but if I have to clear that once a week, then it's 60 a month. x_O;!

X_x The irritating thing about spambots, is that anything short of admin authorization and a shutdown of Guest posting just doesn't work, they're good enough now to get past just about any anti-bot protection you put on the authorization system...

Kinda disturbing I find

<img src="images/results.png"></center><hr>I know you've all noticed an abundance of posting by bots... I can keep adding IPs to the ban list, but it's getting insane.

Do you guys think it's time for a change of Clearance Levels?

Should we really go to the point that we no longer allow Guest Posting at all.... and that all accounts must be activated by Admin Only?

Currently, Level 0 is Guest... It's there because there's always account issues. However, most people here know how to get a hold of an Admin or a Mod (who can get hold of an Admin if needed) outside of the board. This is quite possibly an unnecessary level...

What do you guys think?
